Wolves pre-season Training Update

The Wolves first team took the opportunity to train indoors at Liverpool's Training Academy to escape the winter weather.

The first purpose-built complex for the development of young footballers in Britain which has seen the likes of Owen, Fowler and Gerrard pass through its system, was graced yesterday by the Warrington Wolves first team squad who took the opportunity to train indoors at the Liverpool FC indoor training Academy, Kirkby.

The lads spent 45 minutes on conditioning and an hour and a half on field work during their alloted time at the facility.

Commenting on the day assistant coach Nigel Wright said:
"This was a real quality session spent in excellent surroundings. Because we were on a surface very similar to a pitch we could do pretty much anything we would normally do outdoors on grass and it allowed for a very concentrated and hard session. "

Following the training session Vinnie Anderson commented:
"It was good to be able to train without worrying about the elements, which allowed more focus on technical parts of training and we all got a lot from the morning. Pre season has been very tough, but thats how it should be and the variety of venue does make a difference and keeps us all on our toes."

The opportunity to use the Academy has come from the growing partnership with Liverpool FC who play their reserve home fixtures at The Halliwell Jones Stadium, and demonstrates some of the benefits the round ball is having on our beloved Warrington Wolves.

The next Liverpool reserve match is tonight, Thursday 4th December at 7pm against Blackburn Rovers.
